How would you explain your job to a child?
In all fairness, most of the team I work with may even say that my job can be done by a child and to be honest it probably could! I speak to clients and find out what their needs or problems are and present them with a solution. However, without the fantastic operations, customer service and payroll teams behind me, I would not be able to do what I do best.
What do you like most about your job?
The thing I like most about my job is obviously coming in every day and working with a team that I regard as great friends. We are a family orientated business with very strong morals and ethics and this reverberates through the business and is also felt by our wonderful clients and candidates.
What does a typical day look like for you and what are you currently working on?
A typical day for me involves liaising with existing clients on their requirements, keeping up to date with any legislation changes, bringing new clients on to our Umbrella payroll. I am currently working with many existing and new clients to formulate a plan to facilitate the transition of workers from being classed as outside IR35 to inside IR35. Providing them with Status Determination help and options for payroll solutions that best suit the needs of themselves and their contractors.
When was the last time you laughed so hard you cried?
It has got to be about 2 months ago in the main atrium of the building where our office is based. I had arranged for a game of table tennis with my colleague Lewis and decided get in a bit of practice whilst he was getting a coffee but it didn’t go well. I missed the ball and as it went rolling across the atrium, I tried to get it but instead, spun round, clipped a low soft seat near the table and landed right on my backside whilst cracking my elbow, head and back at the same time. Everyone turned when they heard the noise I made. I tried to right myself but I couldn’t stop laughing when I thought about what I must have looked like on the internal security cameras! I also let out a little tear of pain as well if I am honest. Haha
